How to Spot a Fake Card
Use these checks if you ever receive a card you are unsure about — from any seller, not just us.
Genuine Pokémon cards have a thin blue layer visible inside the cardstock (visible at the edge if you slightly bend the card). Fakes are usually pure white throughout.
Genuine cards have crisp, perfectly sized Gill Sans font. Fakes often have blurry text, incorrect font sizing, or spelling errors.
Genuine holofoil cards have a consistent, intricate sparkle pattern that changes with light angle. Fakes use a flat or rainbow-only foil with no depth.
Genuine cards weigh approximately 1.74g and have a specific flex resistance. Fakes are often too light, too stiff, or feel "plasticky".
Real card artwork is vibrant with accurate colour reproduction. Fakes are often washed out, too bright/oversaturated, or have incorrect HP/damage number colours.
All genuine Pokémon cards have a copyright line at the bottom: "©1995-20XX Nintendo, Creatures, GAMEFREAK." Fakes often get this wrong or omit it entirely.
